ForexAcuity
A forex training platform, web and iOS, with live analysis of six major pairs.
Presenting problem
Forex markets run 24 hours a day, five days a week, but actual trade entries are fewer. Finding them consistently takes a rule-based price-action method, visible across six major pairs at once, with a safe way to practise and review.
Assessment
The analysis has to reach a browser and a phone within seconds of market conditions changing. Practice only builds a repeatable method if replay shows exactly what was knowable at the time.
Plan
A live analysis dashboard on the web and a native iOS app, both fed from my own server, with a practice simulator, session replay and one trading journal shared between them.
Outcome
Web platform live at forexacuity.co.uk. iOS app on the App Store since 2 Sep 2026, with a lifetime in-app purchase. The trading engine, journal and replay are covered by unit tests.
My own domiciliary practice: NHS and private home eye tests across the Midlands.
Presenting problem
My practice needed a site that older patients and their families can find in search and use easily, and booking requests that always reach the team.
Assessment
Many patients are over 70, so legibility comes first. The domain had been hit with pharmaceutical spam pages, and competition in the sector had increased. Booking notices depended on a single mailbox.
Plan
A site built for legibility first, with area pages for local search, a bookings admin for the team, booking alerts with a fallback, encrypted off-server backups, and a chat assistant for bookings and questions.
Outcome
Live at homeeyeclinic.co.uk with eleven area pages. Bookings admin since 10 Sep 2026; chat assistant answering since 21 Sep 2026. Backups are encrypted and have been restore-tested.

Learn Academy
Directed oversight for families who educate their children, aged 6 to 16, at home.
Presenting problem
Parents who educate their children at home are often unsure whether their child is making enough progress. An Education Director baselines each child, writes an individual learning plan in weekly instalments and reviews the evidence the parent logs. All of that needed one shared place.
Assessment
Children's data shaped the product. Accounts are for parents only, and the record belongs to the parent, who can export or delete it. The business repositioned in September 2026, so the site, the data model and the wording all had to change together.
Plan
A public site, a parent portal, a Director console and a parent app on one shared backend, where each family can only ever see its own records.
Outcome
Site and portal live at learn-academy.co.uk, redesigned 9 Sep 2026. Retired URLs redirect straight to their new pages. The parent app is built but not yet released.

How I work
Every project runs the same way, from plan to maintenance.
PlanI write it down before I build it.
Every project keeps a plan and a status file. A clinic habit: if it isn't recorded, it didn't happen.
RequirementsI start with the problem, not the feature.
I run the businesses these systems serve, so the requirements come from the clinic, the practice and the trading desk.
DesignI design for the end user.
My users range from patients over 70 to traders on a phone. That shapes type size, contrast and how few steps a task takes.
TestI test the parts that carry money or data.
The ForexAcuity iOS app has almost 200 unit tests, covering its trade engine, journal and replay clock.
ReleaseI host and ship what I build.
Six sites and an API run on a Linux server that I administer myself, from deploys to backups to monitoring.
MaintainI keep it patched and I respond when it matters.
In December 2025 my server was attacked repeatedly. I traced the cause to a newly published flaw in a web framework, patched it and hardened the server.
ClaimsI don't overstate.
Regulated professions taught me to make only claims I can back up. Every outcome here links to something you can check.
