Eyecuity

A practice management system for UK opticians, built by one.

Presenting problem
Independent and domiciliary optometry practices in England claim NHS sight tests through PCSE's eGOS system. A claim that breaks a rule is rejected weeks later, after the patient has gone.
Assessment
The claim rules are detailed, patient data must stay in England, and existing systems check claims after they are submitted rather than while the optometrist is entering them.
Plan
A practice management system covering diary to dispensing, whose NHS claim forms check the rules as the data is entered and explain any problem in plain words.
Outcome
In progress. All five NHS sight-test claim types and visit notifications pass against the NHS claims test service. Online booking, recall and clinical images come next.

Why a clinician is building this

I test eyes for a living, including in patients’ homes. The checks Eyecuity runs at the point of entry are the ones I make in my head at the end of every domiciliary visit. Putting them in the form means the claim is right before it leaves the practice.

Screenshots will be added as the build reaches a state worth showing.
